The cost of social media
Interesting infographic below from Focus.com. It shows a breakdown of what well known brands are paying (in the US) for their social media activity and the levels of return they are receiving for their efforts. There are some nice benchmarks in here for people planning their social media campaigns.
Two questions I would raise though. In relation to the Facebook stat, wouldn’t it be fair to suggest that someone who ‘likes’ a brand page is doing so because they have a prior liking for the brand – so the 28% figure may in fact relate to an pre-existing propensity for continued usage rather something created through Facebook? And the Twitter figures look a bit mixed up. A monthly investment that is higher than the monthly return can’t be a positive outcome, can it?
