Ireland in non international economic pariah shocker
I know. It feels weird after all this time being mocked, jeered and pilloried as an economic joke to see people in the international economic community actually viewing Ireland as a good place to invest their money.
But that is actually what has happened. American Billionaire Wilbur Ross (good name for a billionaire methinks) has invested an eye watering 300 Billion in BOI on the back of what he describes as our impressive recovery – full article here
“I am genuinely impressed and have been for some time at the way Ireland bit the bullet and faced up to it,” Ross said.
“Unlike the Club Med economies, the former government and the present one have dealt very surgically and very quickly with the problem.”
This is not a miracle cure but it’s a sweet relief to see an outsider with a good pedigree in investment deciding that we’re a solid bet for a relatively swift recovery.
