It’s all paid for.

A marketing phrase has been bugging me lately.

‘Earned Media’.

The most common use for it at the moment seems to be around social media. For example if you put an ad on TV you are using ‘Paid’ media. If it’s on your own website or on one of your delivery

The great debate

Posted by Patrick

I had two things on my mind this weekend. Football and Pitching. And by the time Monday night came about and the ‘fear’ had set in these two topics had suddenly collided into an insomnia inducing mind-melter.

The reason the two have become one, to paraphrase The Spice Girls, is a

Dream Job

This ad makes me jealous. Really, really jealous. Dr Bruce Banner green with jealousy. But not for the most obvious reason. Sure, it would be nice to have a Hollywood Movie budget but that’s not why i’m envious. It’s not the 3 month production shoot that travelled the globe either.

Here’s a question. Are there no clash codes for banner advertising?

I’m not a media expert, but I do recall that for TV and Radio the media buyers ensured that when they booked a spot for a client they used ‘clash codes’ to ensure their ad wouldn’t appear alongside a competitor

Super Boring….ads

So the Superbowl was last night. The biggest show on earth apparently. The game was entertaining but i’m afraid the ads weren’t up to much. If you have half an hour you can watch them all here:

Obviously this isn’t my Bug Bear. This is:

Snickers

The same idea but made for a UK audience. A

The year in pictures….with Lego.

Posted by Patrick

It’s that time of year when we all take a look back over the years events. What better way to do it then by combining striking images with one of our favorite things, Lego.

So a big thanks to The Guardian for this.

The White House Situation Room is my personal favorite.

Das Budget

Posted by Patrick

So far the best piece of commentary I’ve read about the budget was this tweet from @taoiseachenda ‘In case you’re wondering why it’s taking two days to deliver #Budget2012, it’s because we have to translate it from German’

The whole ‘European issue’ was probably the underlying theme of this morning’s KPMG

Passion of the Christmas

Posted by Patrick

The USB powered lights are on, Dean Martin is dreaming of a white one and I’ve got my Rudolf jumper on. Yes folks it’s officially Christmas here in Boys and Girls. To celebrate we’re having a special Lunchtime Movie Christmas Special. After much debate, which included the interesting option of

Ladies and gentleman I present to you the finest sandwich ever devised by man. Or woman for that matter. Sure, the Grilled Chicken from Juniors on Bath Avenue is a masterpiece and The Californian from the Pig and Heffer is delicious, but if you haven’t had a Cheese and Crisp
